On 26 June 2026, the Trans4Demo consortium gathered online for the project's official mid-term review, marking an important milestone in the project's journey.
The review provided an opportunity to present the work completed during the first half of the project, discuss achievements across all work packages and exchange views on the project's future direction. Representatives from the European Commission and the project consortium reflected on the progress made so far and the activities planned for the remainder of the project.
Since its launch, Trans4Demo has been working to better understand how democratic societies can navigate the challenges posed by climate change and the rise of populism. Bringing together researchers, practitioners and civil society organisations from across Europe, the project combines interdisciplinary research with participatory approaches to explore how democratic resilience can be strengthened in times of accelerating environmental and political change.
During the review, partners presented the project's main achievements to date, including advances in conceptual and empirical research, stakeholder engagement activities and the implementation of participatory methods across the project's pilot activities. Particular attention was given to the strong collaboration established across the consortium and the integration of insights generated through the different work packages.
The review also highlighted the communication, dissemination and exploitation activities that have supported the visibility of the project and facilitated engagement with diverse audiences throughout the first reporting period. These efforts have helped expand the project's reach across academic, policy and civil society communities while laying the foundations for the longer-term uptake of project results.
The meeting also served as a valuable opportunity for constructive dialogue. Feedback and discussions will help inform the next phase of the project, supporting the consortium as it continues its research, stakeholder engagement and policy-oriented activities.
With the first half of the project completed, Trans4Demo now looks ahead to the next stage of its work. Upcoming activities will further deepen the project's research, expand participatory engagement across Europe and continue translating findings into evidence that can support democratic governance in the context of climate transformation.
